the mamiya 35mm slr homepage - the fixed-lens-family

Though these are independent models, they have one feature in common: a 2.8/48mm non-removeable lens.
MAMIYA Family (1962)
MAMIYA Family MAMIYA Family
Description: It's a simple and cheap product. The concept is similar to the Mamiya AUTO-LUX 35. The lens (2.8/48mm) is not removeable and the aperture consists of just two elements. The meter is built in on the top and is neither coupled to the shutter speed dial nor to the f-stop ring. For metering the desired shutter speed can be preselected on the meter, then a needle indicates the correct f-stop.
In Great Britain this camera was sold with the name Korvette.
Technical data:
shuttertimes from 1/15 s up to 1/250 s and "B".

MAMIYA AUTO-LUX 35 (1964)
MAMIYA AUTO-LUX 35
Description: SLR with leaf-shutter and non-removeable lens 2.8/48mm

Probably a clone of this camera was produced for Canon, the Canonex. For more information search at the Canon Camera Museum under 1955-1969 or Camera Index.

Technical data:
shutterLeaf-shutter, made by Copal. Speeds from 1/15 sec. to 1/500 sec. and B.
exposure meterA Selen-cell on the prism. Shutter speed automatic exposure and manual setting. A needle shows the aperture in the viewer (2,8 - 22)
lensFocal length is 48mm, aperture is 2.8. The filter thread of the AUTO-LUX is smaller (app. 40 mm) than that of the successor 528TL, so the popular lens converters of the 528TL can not be used. Nearest focus distance is 80 cm.
flashAccessory-shoe without contact, PC-socket, probably with X-Synchronisation.

In the UK the AUTO-LUX was also sold as "Rank Mamiya AUTO-LUX 35". This picture was courtesy sent in by Dave Lewis:

mamiya/sekor 528TL (1967)
mamiya/sekor 528TL
Description: Mamiya's last camera with non-removeable lens. It is obviously the successor of the AUTO-LUX 35, these models are very similar. The exposure meter is new: TTL-metering instead the Selen-cell on the prism. A depth-of-field scale and an infrared index, a larger filter thread and hot-shoe.
The first 528TLs have no plastic protector around the film advance lever.
Technical data:
shutterLeaf-shutter, made by Copal. Speeds from 1/15 sec. to 1/500 sec. and B.
exposure meterI think it is an CdS-cell mounted on the mirror, so it is center-weighted. Shutter speed automatic exposure and manual setting. A needle shows the aperture in the viewer (2,8 - 22)
lensFocal length is 48mm, aperture is 2.8 and the filter threads size is 52mm. Nearest focus distance is 80 cm. For changing the focal length, Mamiya built two optical elements, which can be mounted like a filter onto the lens. One for tele-photo and one for wide-angle.
flashHot-shoe and PC-socket with X-Synchronisation.

There is an Online Instruction Manual for this camera in progress!
It contains a perhaps important warning: "Do not change the f-stop while the shutter is open, e.g. using position "B". This will damage the automatic exposure." This procedure is often used to check the diaphragm - so be careful!
Synonym: In Germany this camera was also sold as "PORST autoflex TL".

mamiya 528AL
A very rare model. I think, it is just an update from the 528TL.
